DirecTV has sports in HD

DirecTV is unbeatable with its HD sports offerings so I doubt they are losing customers anytime soon.

When cable or U-verse offer NBA League Pass with more than 1(If that) game in HD a night then I might consider switching

I doubt they are going to lose customers over this as well.. however, it is important to remember that we are in totally different times where people are starting to react differently than before. Like the stock market, people now, too, are starting to make quick reactions to what they see in the news.. people are hanging onto ever word of what they hear about the economy and the new government. What I do think we may see more of, in the coming months, are people dropping pay TV all together.. or, we may see more people ramping up TV as a new form of "entertainment" vs. eating out, trips, etc.

Equipment progressively worse, prices higher, Sunday Ticket over priced..I was a 5 year customer until last month. Cannot deal with them anymore..So yes they will and have already lose customers...

I want to go back to them but I want a real TiVo not the crappy NDS DVRs.

I suggest you never move to Comcast territory. Possibly the worse UI I have ever seen and their prices are even worse.

the direcTV branded DVRs are really not that bad. i used to think the same way until i wanted an HD DVR and went with their branded boxes. after using them for a few weeks, i was surprised at how well they worked. things were a little quirky coming from tivo, but it was just a matter of getting used to where they placed things and how to do the same things with different menus. i really like the direcTV DVRs now.

Trust me I won't be moving to Comcast territory.

I'm just fine with my (Genuine) Series3 TiVo. Records everything I tell it to and the UI is easy to use and stable.

How reliable in terms of recording?

Do they do Netflix and amazon VOD?

How's the multi room viewing?

Series3 TiVos are awesome. They're just way too costly:

1) Cost of equipment
2) Cost of TiVo Service
3) Cost of two CableCARDs

TiVo made a lot more sense on DirecTV where the service fee was smaller (and covered a whole house), and the boxes were partially subsidized. Fortunately new DirecTV HD TiVos are supposedly coming the second half of this year .
