I find it interesting that i was using alltel 40050 and then alltel push 40049 to me. That was a real surprise this afternoon

New to the forum I've been reading about the PRLs I have been on the phone with Altell several times regarding my slow speeds -111, -109, -99 is about the best I can get. I live just outside of Cadillac. They just switched me to PRL 40051 I am connected now, but not very good speeds for the most part. Any suggestion.

First we need to know your signal strength, card ect. But you would most likely be better off with a Verizon prl if you want good speed.

I tried Alltel's and Verizons PRL. I decided that Verizon's PRL was better so that is what I am using. 51143 is the one I use.

Send me a private IM and I will be glad to share my experiences regarding Alltel. I assume your numbers are antenna signal strength. You may want to consider an antenna attached to your data card. I happen to have an extra one you can have cheap. Also consider an amplified antenna. Pioneer is right in that verizon prl performance at this point is much better. at some point though, they will complete merger of the systems and we will be stuck with alltels system in the verizon name.

PS I love the two golf courses you have there in Tustin.

First everyone here, I am not posting to sell an antenna. This one is sold by Alltel. I bought it and connected it to my data card. Then decided to get an amplifier just to do all i could to cover all bets. Turns out the amplifier came with an antenna too. The adapter i have fits the Huawei Ec228 card but they have adapters in the local Cadillac Alltel store. this one fits several cards. IM with private message if interested. I want to get this off the board. they may not like it

Hey MarthaG, I would like to know if you have tried Verizon 51433 prl yet? If you do please post a speed test to see if it will work any better than that old prl you have been using.

pioneer56,

I don't know where to find that prl. I use the most current one from this link.

Are you divested or not? It would make a difference if you were since you would be roaming and it might not allow that with the more recent prl's

When I unzipped it it didn't say prl but rla. I don't know if we are divested. I am not up on a lot of these things.

Yeah, you have to rename the file xxxxx.prl when you activate.

Pioneer56,

That's how I figured it out. I did a google search and it came back to one of the threads here and it took me a while but I finally was able to do it. I don't have any antenna just the UM150. I am about 5 miles from the 3 towers. One is Alltel and two are Verizon. I have plenty of trees between me and the towers so RevA does seem to work much better then RevO.
