Full speed ahead. It seems my speeds have officially kicked in. Just took it right now. Now I am extremely happy!

And to make sure it is consistent. Another taken right after.

Haven't gone home to check my speeds. But what about this routing change to level3, is all traffic going out level3 now instead of qwest? I don't recall ever being routed via level3 but it appears to be all the time now.

I was upgraded and found out. I needed to power cycle every thing. They provisioned me at 22400 down and 2240 up.
How does one find out what we are "provisioned" at ? Also , if its not too much trouble...what do you mean by "POWER CYCLE your modem ? Do you mean just a reset ? Thanks for your help.

It's going to depend on your equipment to see what you are provisioned at. I would recommend just trying a speed test. If you are not getting 16+ and are subscribed to it then I will take a look at your account and provisioning.

To power cycle your equipment..

1. Unplug the power from your router and modem.
2. Wait 60 seconds.
3. Plug the modem back in and let it sync up.
4. Plug the router back in and let it sync up.
5. Attempt the speedtest again @ »speedtest.charter.com

I noticed the same thing, all routing that used to go through Qwest Atlanta is going through Level3 Washington here since just after midnight. Much better latency and general routing performance, hopefully this keeps up through peak hours.

Weird, starting a few weeks ago charter did the exact opposite here. Almost everything is now routing out qwest instead of the previous paths of xo and level3. Latency to most places is worse than before. My only hope is that this is only temporary while they make some circuit changes/upgrades.

Well so much for that. Now that people are home and using their internets, I'm back down to 12-14 Mbps

Update: I cannot even get 10 Mbps now. I'm bouncing between 6 and 8. This is awful service.

Yep getting 20mbps now, its awesome. However I hate my Motorola Surfboard 5101 modem they sent me, that thing has some serious issues (like dieing out with other concurrent connections) with the Internet download manager, and when opening or downloading more then 2 or 3 things. Need to get a different one for sure, but getting 20mbps, uploads a little low for today.

Hopefully this isn't going to be an indication of what prime time is going to be.

20 Mbps, the new 16Mbps

don't be too surprised. Charter didn't actually add any network capacity to accomodate the 20mb rollout, all they did was release a new provisioning config that tells your modem it can try for 20megs instead of 16 now. But all it really does it offer to let each of us 20mb users a bigger piece of the same pie. by that I mean the same shared bandwidth infrastructure is in place, they're just letting you use more of it at any given time. But when everyone else is also using their own piece of the pie, each person gets smaller portions. At 3am you'll probably get max speeds. At 6PM, you probably won't. That's the way Cable works, unfortunately.

Matt,

Actually I believe there are some routing issues in the southeast. Not disagreeing with you, but some of us have other issues beyond "sharing the pipe" at this time. I'm in TN and get my best speed tests to Chicago. My speeds through Atlanta are abysmal. They used to not be this way. Something has changed in the last few weeks.
