Get over it already and grow up. Could not agree more. Making the subject taboo only makes it worse. I do not see how ignorance combined with immaturity and even possibly stupidity is going to help decrease STD prevalence in people as a whole and decrease teen pregnancies. HIV/AIDS rate in people in the USA although not shockingly high, is definitely not exemplary. It is twice as high as Mexico and various other countries and SIX TIMES higher than countries like Japan, Norway, and others.
I think we can certainly do better and lower the rates a bit with good education on the subject. Parents also need to step up and not leave everything to school. If your son or daughter is entering as a high school freshman you should be educating them and making them aware of the risks of sex, how to reduce them, and so on. You might think that it is a bit early but in all honesty that is far from the truth. Many kids engage in some sexual act before high school to begin with. There is nothing wrong with suggesting that they wait a bit longer and telling them that, but in case they do not, it is better that they are educated and not ignorant or afraid to ask for advice. | |

We're not talking about the Baptists going out and trying to take away your porn. The fact is what happened here is the porn was imposed on an unsuspecting public. People have a legitimate expectation not to have porn when they watch "family programming" and are right to be upset about this. | |

Unless Comcast is known for behavior of showing porn on family programming then this one time thing in years is nothing to be getting angry about. So no, they do not have the right to be upset for a harmless accident that is not in accordance with the company's programming reputation.
That is not my saying at all. I judge all the time, sometimes wrongfully so, and I expect that others do the same. I never claim I am the all omniscient and impotent being on earth. I also expect some reasoning and logic once in a while too from people. This was not half an hour of porn either. People should seriously not even make a big deal about this at all. Should have been shrugged and ignored.
You think kids do not know about porn? LMFAO. You must think you are good. Most kids see some sort of porn before age of 10. What should have really been the discussion and uproar was the animal behavior from some of the players during the game. Where are the news on that? I don't think I have even seen an article on that.

Where is the anger of this terrible behavior? This is what I do not think kids should be exposed to and merely have such behavior shrugged off. I do not want to show them that it is OK to behave like an uneducated animal. Players who behave in such a manner should be getting suspensions. I see way too much leniency in the NFL for unsporting behavior. This was not all the bad behavior shown during the game either. I saw plenty of it. WHERE ARE ALL THE REAL NEWS ARTICLES AT? | |

I'm not saying it was nonexistant because it was and always has been out there. But the glorification and marketing of these behaviors has led exponentially to more complex societal problems. Any parent will tell you that the competition for thier childs mind is overwhelming. Children have become calous to violence from being subjected to Hollywoods version of the first ammendment. The lack of respect for authority is also a side effect from California which produced SH*T like Springer, Jones, and Povich. In your agnostic utopia, there are only man made rules which are circumvented at will by corrupted politicians, criminal CEOs, and a public that doesn't give a f***.
Why don't you try to correlate the difference in rates of violence with the content of the TV...I'm sure you'd be astounded! | |

You've asserted you have the numbers on your side, what are they? Are they significant? Is it enough to prove more than just a correlation?
I briefly looked at the CIA World Factbook just for the rate of hiv/aids in various countries and it doesn't appear to support your claim.
True, US has a relatively high rate of hiv/aids (.6%), but so does libertine Brazil (.7%). Furthermore, relatively traditional and religious countries like Czech Republic and Poland have low rates (>.1% and .1% respectively).
France has an infestation rate of .4%, that's pretty high, and they are not "repressed."
Finally, hardcore "repressed" countries like UAE and Saudi Arabia have low rates of .18% and .01%.
I submit that there must be something more to explain the numbers than some type of puritanical repression the US supposedly has. How different are we than Australia? They have an hiv/aids rate of .1%. I'm pretty sure they have their own version of the FCC down there.
