| [POLL] Media Players - 2009 Member Choice
A big thanks to steve1a for last years great Media Player poll!
I'm sure we all know what a "media player" is, although the definition may vary somewhat amongst users depending on what OS one is using (Windows, Linux, etc). For the purpose of this poll, we will be using the standard defintion as found in Wikipedia:
Media player is a term typically used to describe computer software for playing back multimedia files. Most software media players support an array of media formats, including both audio and video files.
Some media players focus only on audio or video and are known as audio players and video players respectively. The producers of these players usually focus on providing a better user experience as they are specifically tailored toward the media type.
Microsoft Windows comes with pre-loaded Windows Media Player. The latest is Windows Media Player 11, which is bundled with Windows Vista, and available as a download for Windows XP SP2. Mac OS X comes pre-loaded with Quicktime Player for playing Quicktime movies and iTunes for playing a variety of media formats. Winamp supports Apple iPods and other portables like Creative's Zen while also supporting audio and video playback. Linux distributions come pre-loaded with various media players including VLC, MPlayer, xine, and Totem.
Please take a moment to look over the poll and make your choices for your favorite Media Players. Due to the long list of players available, this poll is multichoice, you may choose more than one player. If you use none, please indicated that, if you use "other", please indicate that also and list which player you use if it is not in the list.
Thanks, enjoy!

I voted Windows Media Player 11 (And also PowerDVD..cuz it was there).
I have others too, but for quite a while now I've found that WMP 11 serves most of my general needs just fine, so I haven't bothered with the others. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

A wild poll Hard to believe the votes for MPC with the lack of votes for Real and QT alternatives, they are "plug-ins" for it.
Use MPC as default on one system and VLC on the other. Have KM and GOM as my back-ups, so can play almost anything I encounter, except for some rare websites that demand the new M$ silverlight. -- Was a Cruise Fanatic, one cruise on Princess cured me. Bleah |
