Cannot install ActiveX for ESET online scanner

ESET ActiveX install

Unknown publisher

Publisher is supposed to be known
As part of ESET scanner setup, ActiveX must be allowed to run, but I cannot install it because the publisher is unknown. See above pix. So I added ESET website in the trusted sites and still couldn't install the ActiveX control. So what's going on?

I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 and IE 8 (release candidate 1, not a beta)

This is part of the mandatory procedures.

Try setting your UAC a bit lower, so you get the prompt from it.

UAC's got nothing to do with it.

It may be that the new release of IE8 broke the process of getting the publisher's name so ActiveX can be installed.

It might be IE8 but also 64bit OS, did you contact Eset?

I agree, and yes, I left a text message with them and referred them to this thread.

Ah, wow. ESET scanner reports 1 virus found: "probably unknown NewHeur_PE virus"

Still scanning at 23%...

Edit: the virus is found in the old windows OS dir that was saved by the new OS install program.

Edit two: Finished scanning, no other virus found.
