Many utility companies do provide some training in basic life saving for their outside plant staff. Back in the Bell System days the company even had an annual award (Vail?) for such actions. Even if you feel the companies themselves are pure evil, there are still plenty of decent, hard working, average folks who work for them and do the right thing in an emergency. Nice to see this acknowledged, even if it was in a backhanded way.
