Re: Hopefully this leads

to competing by cap size. As we all know ISPs have been competing by continually upping speeds. Now that's getting to the point where that song and dance doesn't play as well. Sure once guy offering 5 Mbps the other one offers 10 Mbps. People can see that's a 100% jump in speed. One guy offering 20 the other 25 is there really that much of a difference and WTF are you going to do with that much speed when things already seem pretty quick with 20 Mbps.

So now they have to compete based on something else and it will never be price. They've already admitted they'll never do that. So the only other thing is caps. "Hey we have a 500 GB cap the other guys only offer 250 GB you can download TWICE as much!" They didn't plan that when they came up with this genius idea of caps, but inevitably that is where it is headed. The monster they created is out of their control now. I predict within 2-3 years caps will be essentially meaningless because they'll be so high.
cap is very recent, this is just another way of making more money without having to provide a better service to us all. upgrade more hardware to meet with the demand of user or limit user usage? They chose the later one since it is easy and there is no investment or little effort to do so.

Many of us are using our connection more then they thought this is why the cap are so low.
We intend to use our connection as much as possible not as less as possible... They are going downhill. I think its a wrong approach.

I remember unlimited dialup 19.95 after we were done with aol and prodigy of charging 5 cent a min!

This can really add up... for user that only get on for a few min, they aren't paying much but for many that use it for 10 hours or more per month it can get really expensive.

What's the use with a fast connection that can't be used much? Instead of asking us to use less they will force us to use less whether we like it or not.
This is what I called socialism based on our ability to pay rather then our need or want.
You have a connection that does 10mbit but can only use a tenth of it if you use it often... so a connection of 1mbit or less with unlimited usage is just as good!

actually that is not socialism...forced compliance is called Fascism, where is good old Benito when we need him...he would make the prototype CEO in today's world.

Actually, Fascism is a system in which private entities own, but government controls the means of production. In other words - what we get from obama's spending package.
