Wanted a simple double-sided firewall with none of the extra bells and whistles.
Looked to me like the trend was to pack programs with so much stuff (I didn't want my firewall monitoring my AV definitions). All I wanted beyond the one that came with windows, was to also see and control what wanted to get out.

Shorewall is a front-end for iptables, if we want to get all technically correct. I voted for shorewall (which I use) but I would have voted for iptables (which actually is the firewall) had I seen it first |
