Re: Zhomg Copper WTH

Actually, one of my family members lives in Roseville, CA and has Surewest 20/20 Fiber internet.. I PcAnywhere into his machine many times to help him with his computer. I also have a business in Sacramento on Comcast HSI running at about 20/2 right now.

So far, the Comcast connection is much more responsive and appears to operate much faster and closer to its speeds. The Surewest account takes forever to respond to the initial load of the computer.. and, for a pure 10/10 fiber connection, it just doesn't act like it.

Makes me wonder just how good Surewest is running their network. They reach their 10 down regularly, but their upload is typically about 5 meg, half of the speed.

I don't consider this "terrible" like you said.. but, I'm more shocked that it's not a much more rock solid connection.

One thing I will say about Surewest, over Comcast,... never an outage... yet.

Don't remember such a bad experience on the Elk Grove side of Surewest but would have to do a real benchmark.
