 | Fairpoint Dial-up Problems anyone else having this? Hi,
My sister had Verizon dial-up account and I am helping her. I can logon to her email account and the Fairpoint web page using the vz&^**(@myfairpoint.net address using my at home DSL connection. We also get this error when using her original user name.
Her problem is we cannot get a dial-up connection we do get dial tone and handshake but get error messages returned that say username and/or password not correct.
I called Fairpoint and only answer was "oh yeah" we are still having problems with some of the dial up accounts.
So just looking for some help if anyone else has this type of problem.
We are located in Brattleboro, Vermont 05301 thank you |

| I assume your sister is on VT,NH or ME so is affected by transition to FairPoint.
I don't have dialup so can't speak to this directly but FairPoint has been having a lot of problems transferring account information. For example my FairPoint email is working but I am unable to log into MyFairPoint web site to manage my DSL account.
I assume logging on to account using Verizon.net still works. I'd wait a week or two to see if they manage to sort things out. If not you will need to call FairPoint.

 | reply to millhouse I have also been trying to help my sister and her husband with this problem for over a week now. The email transition from verizon to myfairpoint on January 31st for my sister was not bad, BUT her husband could not connect and the next day my sister could no longer connect either! We have called support several times, they admit there is a problem in their area (Northern NH) but nothing has been resolved yet! Like someone said in an earlier posting THEY CANNOT GET ONLINE TO BITCH ABOUT THIS!!!!!!! So I am sending this email from Florida. My internet works great here, but not using Fairpoint either! I am holding on the phone now waiting for someone to talk to me again! Surely, it will be the same story, we are working on it, have people from China working on it too or they will just end connection with a busy signal! |

 | reply to millhouse Anyone have a webpage for dialup access numbers? |
|
 | reply to millhouse MG,
Yes my sister is in Brattleboro, Vt. Been trying to call Fairpoint with no sucess today. Keep getting "our phones are busy" please call back or go online to chat.
What a laugh..If a person has dial-up they cannot go online till they get a connection to a server and if they are trying to connect to the "fairpoint" server and user name and/or password are not yet entered in the server records then you will get a error returned trying to connect.
At this point I told me sister it is time to move on to highspeed. We are going to look into Comcast and see what their rates are. I am now afraid of even mentioning Fairpoint DSL for her, because so far the service sucks!!! |

 | reply to millhouse Headed to sister's today, I found her original VZ user ID from Verizon and I am going to try that @myfairpoint.net and see if we can connect.
Both of us have been trying to call Faripoint support all week with no luck. I have sent email to Sen. Sanders and Leahy to find out why Fairpoint has refused to step up!
At least extend customer service hours including sat and sunday till they get this mess resolved. they owe to all of us.
You can bet your bill will arrive in the mail on time and I am sure there will be "credits" for time of service lost. What a gig they got.
Frustrated! |

1 edit | Bills aren't being mailed on time. FairPoint already announced that due to transition problems, bills are being mailed late and they are extending the due date accordingly. |

 | Ok, here is what happened today when I went to my sisters. She has a dial-up connection. In the dial-up dialog box I entered her "original" "vze^&%&*" verizon user name.
We were then able to connect to server. In Thunderbird which she uses for mail, I had her user name as the one she picked when she first setup Verizon..her alias name.
Thunderbird did connect to pop mail and download her messages, well actually it took over 3 hours, because she had a lot with attachments and we were on a "blazing" 28kps" dial-up modem connection.
So looks like all it working right now. Can I assume that Fairpoint is keeping the records of the verizon user name on servers and that is want will be used going forward?
thanks to all for help,
lobster11..thanks for the news, Did Fairpoint announce this via email to users or on their website? |
