@rr.com | Fiber Optic Cable TV
Anyone know anything anything about the fiber optic Cable TV service Cincinnati Bell has started offering to some apartment complexes? |

@cinergy.com | I was told that they will be offering it the their entire service area within the next 5 years (that was 6 months ago). It is supposed to be just like Verson's FTTH solution .
What areas are they offering it in now? |

Is it just TV service, or can it support VOIP and Internet? Have not heard a thing about it. Would be interested in some info. Bell has so much debt to pay, I find it hard to believe they will be able to roll out fibre to their service area in 5 years. |

| reply to Aparment Renter I used to work for bell as an outside repair tech/splicer until I recently moved to a warmer climate. Here is the full deal on the fiber.
1.) Bell did this right they put in the gpon units with a max throughput of 72 megs up and down. There was alot of internal debate over this and another vender who offered 60.
2.) According to Cassidy back last summer in one of his famous chats with Jack. All multi dwelling units of 3+ units would have ftth by the end of this year. The reasoning was based upon take right being higher than initially thought. They stepped up the buildout as bell can recoup the investment on an multi dwelling unit within 3 years.
3.) When I quit Clifton and Mt. Adams had been green lit for an overbuild also this year.
4.) Several people I knew who worked at Bell had this installed and were seeing 60/60 speeds at their house. Also you can get cable tv through them.
5.) I wish I had this where I moved as it I would get it in a second as internet here is $50+ a month without a phone. |

3 edits | reply to Aparment Renter I have the service. They are branding it Fioptics. It's still strange though because it's not advertised at all on the CB web site. There isn't even a support page for this specific TV/Internet service yet. Anyways, people got fed up with Time Warner in my complex and requested something else. CB stepped up to the plate. I'm in Mt. Washington at the complex Deer Hill. So far I love the service. The internet is nearly as advertised. It's supposed to be 30/30Mbps. I get 30/10Mbps. The upload speed isn't 30, but I'm not complaining since 10Mbps is pretty darn good.
The TV service looks good. The local channels have a lot of glitches, but they claim they are working on it. It's not unwatchable, but just a little annoying, like a so so satellite reception. The cable channels are clean and clear, HD looks awesome, not too compressed like TW. And the box(Cisco) is new and very fast at changing channels. One little perk I like about the box is that it will skip over channels that you don't subscribe to, unlike TW. They are still in the guide though if you want to know what you are missing. Lots of HD channels, about the same as TW. Although they do have more channels on the extra money HD tier, like History HD and A&E. I don't watch enough of those to pay the extra $5, but the HD included in regular digital is still around 30 channels or so, including all 4 ESPNs for basketball season and FSN HD for the Reds. And they have added new channels in the two months I've had it.
Overall, big thumbs up. |

| reply to Aparment Renter I live on Zumstein in Hyde Park, and they're running the lines to the large apartment at 3622. A CBT guy came to my door yesterday asking me if I was interested.
Seems like you folks are happy with the Cable, phone and data service. I'd like to get static IP's, as I currently have with TWB and Current (yes, I have 2 ISP's). No pricing that I can find on that website.
Anyone know what that pricing might be, and whether you can get control of your reverse records? |

@scsnet.com | Static IP's were always $10 more per month. |
