If a system doesn't have QAM channels to spare, DOCSIS 3.0 will do absolutely nothing. The what would be the point of spending ANY money on Docsis 3.0 for that company then.
Cable systems will need to dump their analog channels for DOCSIS 3.0 to really shine. Otherwise it will be a choice between more HD or faster broadband. most are already doing that. Charter has already moved 4 or 5 channels from analog to digital over the last 18 months and has already stated they have plans to go to all digital. |
