Re: Fairpoint switched over Verizon's alias names not username

said by Justcode :

I tried to log on to the new Fairpoint portal this morning and it said the following:

Unfortunately, the User Name and Password that you entered are not valid. Please re-enter your login information.
You must contact FairPoint Internet Technical Support at 800-240-5019 to reset your password.

After an hour of being on hold (got hung up on twice) I finally got a hold of someone from tech support. It seems that verizon created (at least for me) a cryptic account name and the email address I chose was tagged as an alias to the name. So when the swap over happened they did the vz12al... name instead of my real email address. This affects the email forwarding and other things done in the swap over, so I was told.

The person put a trouble ticket in to make the changes to the correct names (I have one primary and 4 sub-accounts) hope fully they can resolve this soon.

Till now I never even knew there were aliases used by verizon, I setup the account as email addresses not an alias? Has anyone else had this problem?
i am real pissed off all my contacts list was lost and i need my list how do i get my list of people back the people on my list were family members and work related how the hell do i get it back

Apparently there are still issues with the transition from Verizon to Fairpoint. I used the online chat a few minutes ago to inquire why my emails were still queuing up on Verizon's servers and not being forwarded to Fairpoint. The exchange was at least cordial if not informative -

[12:12 PM] SkowBob: Good afternoon
[12:13 PM] Brian: We apologize for the inconveniences, but unfortunately the upgrade was not completed. Issue should be fixed as soon as possible.
[12:13 PM] SkowBob: OK, I just wanted to make sure it is still being worked on.
[12:13 PM] SkowBob: Is there an ETA?
[12:15 PM] Brian: The issue should be resolved as soon as possible. Your patience is much appreciated. Thanks.
[12:15 PM] SkowBob: Thank you.
[12:16 PM] SkowBob has left the room
