Re: Cricket Broadband Wireless email support Perhaps you are misunderstanding the issue:
ISPs block relaying, that is, sending email from a domain other than your ISP's, on port 25. If you are sending email using Cricket's SMTP server (or any other ISP with whom you have an account outgoing mail server), it should work just fine. You may have to authenticate yourself to the SMTP server, but you should be able to send email. What won't work is sending email from mypersonaldomain.com via Cricket (or other ISP) who blocks relaying on port 25.
Things you can do: 1) change your mail account settings to always send via your ISP's SMTP server or 2) See if your domain host, business or other entity where you have an email account has an alternate SMTP port available. Many do. If so, then it's simply a matter of changing the outgoing port number in your mail account settings. 3) Some ISPs will unblock port 25 if requested by individuals to do so.

 | The port 25 was blocked by cricket - end of story. I ran the tests in DOS as suggested here and it was blocked.
I changed to an ALTERNATIVE SMTP and a different port as found on a search at my domain hosting company where I get my email.
It was working fine on port 25 with the regular smtp settings for 2 months, then cricket must have closed the hole.
I changed it to an alternative SMTP and port address from my hosting [email] website, that was on a page that stated "use this if your ISP blocks port 25."
Now we'll see when they block that next. |
