Re: AntiVirus Poll 2009

Great poll! I use Avast! on my desktop and AV Defender 2009 on my laptop. My servers run Linux so no need for AV there

Avira paid here with Prevx Edge and Online Armor firewall. Light and extremely tight...

Thanks for the poll, Kim! Voted. After using McAfee since way back then, I am trying Avast (free) on a new basic machine (Vista HP). So far, all seems smooth, fast, and only missing the paid version's scheduler. [edit: hmm, and maybe an on demand limited file/folder scanner too?]

TrendMicro on my Vista box & Avast all others.

Not that this is the proper place for questions (it's a [POLL], after all)

..but TM came on my Vista quad.

Re: AntiVirus Poll 2009

I used to use AVG Pro on all my machines. Two years ago, I started putting Avira on some of them and after AVG v8, I decided to go entirely with Avira. I even bought my own licenses for work PC's.

NIS 2009 here - after being a Norton hater for the past few years. Very happy with the new small footprint and detection.

Great poll Kim! I'm a tad late on this one, but I've got Avast on all my computers. Have been using it for several years now and am happy.

Re: AntiVirus Poll 2009

I was using NOD32 2.7 till a few days ago. I upgraded to 3.0 but since my license had expired I had no definition file update for 24 hours. I installed the trial of NOD 4.0 and so far it's working very well. So I will be using either NOD 4.0, or 3.0 if problem arise, knocking on wood.

Update installed the paid version of NOD 4.0.417 on 4/3. all is still well.

Avast, Clamwin, McAfee AVD, Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Really surprised at the numbers for Sophos, F-Secure & Panda.

Avira free on two desktop machines, but it created a series of system problems (depending on the exact version) on a notebook, so I'm now running Avast free on that one with no issues at all.
