 Having problems with ports

I'm with Mountain and i can't get download speed past 10kb/s
says port not open. I'm using a Belkin Gplus. Don't know anything about ports or how to make one for my torrent downloads. I can't connect to others seeding the torrent....someone please HELP...

 This should help you with portforwarding. It is for your router, just scroll down and choose the application you want to forward.
