Neither at&t or Verizon is going to build where they don't already have some infrastructure in place.

FTTH required a fiber cross box somewhere in the neighborhood and alot of digging up of every yard in said neighborhood. Most places put all of the utilities in a 10 foot easement and expect them to last forever. That it rarely the case. Repairs happen all the time. If you think that fiber does not get damaged you are blowing smoke up your ass.

I've seen a lot of VRADs in San José, California. I can't say that I have seen any on front lawns. I can say that every VRAD I have seen is adjacent to a cross-connect box. Are you saying that the same communities which allowed the telco to install a cross-connect box on a front lawn is having second thoughts, when a second box is added to that location?

U-Verse is DSL. AT&T doesnt use these boxes to string fiber to the home, just to the VRAD.

One thing I would like to know why some developers use alleyways while others don't. Placing stuff like VRAD's, transformers, etc. becomes a little more bearable for the homeowner, but still an eyesore. I realize older developments don't have this option.
