Home Alarm Systems

Only reason I have a home phone line is for my alarm system, having to pay $25 month just to have a stripped down phone line that never gets used is stupid. They need to make a plan for home alarm systems for $5.00 a month that you can assign an outgoing number that can be dialed along with 911.

But heck, that would be a smart move on Verizon's part, something that will never happen.

Re: Home Alarm Systems

My home alarm works over Comcast Digital Voice. A simple rewiring took care of that. So you don't necessarily have to be tied to POTS landlines anymore for home alarms.

Re: Home Alarm Systems

Works good until your net goes down. Been there, done that.

I like the fact that if the power goes out I do not have to rely on the comcasts emta's battery pack to hold out.

Not to mention I wanted to get rid of everything comcast when they tried to hike up the bill for tripleplay after my 1 year. And not to mention they charge MORE for their phone service than I am currently paying.

ummm, mellow...i'd strongly suggest that you check out nextalarm.com. we've not had a verizon landline for over 7 years but have had nextalarm intrusion & fire detection for over 3 years---works perfectly on our existing cable broadband. very strongly recommended. bub

I'm paying $4 a month for wireless monitoring.

It's wierdo, not weirdo. Yes, I know that's not the 'proper' spelling of the similar english language word.

Re: Home Alarm Systems

Do you mean $4 extra? From which provider?

Yes, $4 extra. It's from a local place.
