I'd sign up for that in a second. We went all-cell five years ago, and kept our old landline number (as a $10/month add-on phone in a CellSocket) mostly so we could continue to receive calls from our relatives on our old phones.
Of course, this area has a dinosaur monopoly telco (The Death Star), and the idea of them ever offering even minimal service that could compete with cell prices is laughable.
