Is anyone here using their CIS now? How does it rate?
Is there anything else that is free to put in place of BOClean?
I use a router, AVG free, Zone alarm free(for outgoing in case someone ever got in) and BOClean.
Thanks -- ...there will be an answer. let it be |

I wonder if one will be to activate only the firewall (as is the case now) and BOC in the next version of their suite. If that is to be the case, I could live with that. If not, I give Melih "two thumbs down". -- My fellow citizens have deeply disappointed me by voting for style over substance, inexperience over experience, rhetoric unrelated to actions, caricature over character, and a social predisposition for the disreputable over the company of others. |

4 edits | reply to planet That does indeed suck, I've been a paid member since 2001.
And I have been using it on my systems and test systems however as of the last 1.5 years I have to say that Boclean has not cought anything that knowingly bypassed my firewall and AntiVirus on my test system. Hell it did not even catch a few day old strains when I decided to turn off my test VM AV and let BoClean handle it. So in my opinion for the past 1.5 years it served as a piece of mind 2ndary backup just in case some rare strain comes along that it might catch. Otherwise, it was honestly quite useless.
And now it looks like I will have to say goodbye, well I guess I must say that I've seen this day coming since NSclean/boclean/Kevin became part of comodo. I honestly don't see myself installing any comodo product, the only reason I kept Comodo Boclean is because I liked BoClean. I don't know why, but somehow I don't trust Comodo.
Just my 2 cents.
Good luck Kevin and thanks for a great tool. It will be missed as one of my tools that I used to keep my mind at ease.
Cheers!
P.S. Well Time to take Comodo Boclean from my sample submission list. Apperently Kevin himself didn't know about Melihs decision, he was told about it by another member. Somehow, the whole thing about Melih being all good and honest and all about future of security is doubting and the true person can be seen by his actions. Waiting for the moment when some comodo backdoors go online. Oh and for the part that Kevin is optimistic about it, well of course, Melih is his boss, a backstabbing boss but still a boss, and now that Kevin doesn't have his own company, he has to obey Melih or else he will be out of the job in today's employment strapped economy. |

Shame on Melih. He couldn't even be bothered to tell Kevin. I don't understand why anyone uses a Comodo product. I have all Comodo root certs disabled in my browsers. I hope Mozilla ends up removing Comodo's root cert from Firefox. That might take some wind out of Melih's sails but I doubt Mozilla will do the right thing.
I agree that incorporating BoClean into a Suite type product and not also keeping it as a stand alone product really sucks. Other security vendors had better not start that sort of crap. I don't like Suites. I won't use them (although I do make an exception as a beta tester for Avira but I never purchase the Avira Suite as I don't like Suites). Everyone should know that you never put all your eggs in one basket but I guess Melih never learned that. -- "The same ferocity that our founders devoted to protect the freedom and independence of the press is now appropriate for our defense of the freedom of the internet. Re: Stand alone BoClean is leaving us What a shame...
No sense blaming anyone - either you use the suite or lose BoClean. I have the paid Comodo Firewall, but will not renew the subscription when it expires. |

Re: Stand alone BOClean is leaving us A product, IMHO, is only as good as the one behind it/ When Kevin went to work for Melih so that he no longer had to wonder where his next meal was coming from, I applauded his move for survival. However, I knew that the survival of his wonderful program as a stand alone product was doomed from that point on. All I can say is that Melih got a super honest, funny, smart guy in Kevin. I don't think Kevin got the same but a job is a job, and in today's world, God bless the boss, whomever it might be. Comodo BoClean as a stand alone product was predictable. I won't say the same for the, "I can do everything for you" suite. (In all fairness, I won't say the same for any Suite.) R.I.P. BoClean as we knew it. -- JKK

 | reply to planet That's very sad. Some of my relatives use BoClean on their Win98SE, nothing malicious ever got past it. I'd hate converting them to XP just for some additional malware protection. |
