Sprint is ok

I switched from Sprint to Verizon and went prepaid, which was more expensive in the long run. Two months ago I switched back to Sprint, I got a great phone (Samsung Rant), tethered, and good customer service. The longest wait time on hold for CS has been about 30 seconds. I see nothing wrong with Sprint, and Verizon can go fly a kite.

Get off the main road and Sprint sucks unless in a metro area.

My Sprint works in more places then my Verizon... Both places that I have moved to and from in the last 4 years can not pick up quality Verizon service but my Sprint works great..

I had Verizonwireless forever, in fact my wife still has an account there - we formally shared a family plan. However when my VZW contract ended I jumped over to Sprint. I needed a BlackBerry/Email/Internet and the $99 Everything deal at Sprint is tough to pass up on. I love unlimited everything, and I do use everything. For the same service at VZW I would have been out of at least $150/month. I wish VZW did have a $100 unlimited everything deal because I do miss the great network. My Sprint BB doesnt seem to have the same range in my area as VZW and there are some disconnects I experience which almost never happened with VZW. Oh well, the price is too good. Just watching live CNN, FOX, videos, movies etc... all day on my Sprint BB justifies the switch.

Really? I've found Sprint coverage to be stellar where I go, or at least just as good as any other national carrier. If they do roam, it's fre and the roaming signal is of course generally great.

There's no way I'm leaving Sprint as long as I can keep my current plan. 500 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 5 p.m. (yes, 5 p.m.), unlimited M2M, text, MMS, web. $30 per month plus $6 in taxes and fees. For the moment $10 extra for TeleNav. Always $7 extra for insurance; I have a smartphone.

Such a plan would cost probably $40 + $20 + $15 + $5 + $10 + $10 = $100 or so, plus taxes and fees, on another carrier. Why would I switch? Sprint is rock-solid in my experience, broadband speeds over cellular are quite good, and customer service, when I've needed to call them, have been reasonably helpful, though I've had better.

Here's hoping Sprint is going to stick around. If they don't, I'll have to go back to prepaid, likely losing a ton of features in the process. I''m certainly not paying $50 a month for voice-only to Verizon or AT&T, and T-Mobile's coverage is a bit flakey and they don't have 3G in most places still...

How far off the main road? I live 45minutes out of Philly and it works just fine.

Sprint has much better roaming agreements than Verizon. I've used Sprint in very obscure places in South Dakota and Montana on trips with no issue - including data roaming. Sprint also roams on Verizon in some cases (data too but only 2G at the moment).

There was an independent study that shows Sprint has the most coverage when you include roaming but true, native coverage is not as high as Verizon.

I have no problems with Sprint. Customer support is better but still not great. I only call a couple times a year so there are other daily factors more important to me than support.

Yeah, with roaming I always have signal. And it is free roaming. I have to use roaming when I am at my house all the time, and I make 70% of my calls there.

Sprint has the best deals(I have a 3 year old deal that is much better), it is just the bad PR that is losing customers. Plus they are trying to pull in a better variety of phones. And now they are going to have to wait 2 years for everyone to get out of their iPhone contracts before they start getting customers back.

That's probably because Sprint ends up roaming on Verizon Wireless

I had Verizon Wireless once - horrible billing, poor CS and dropped calls. Left for AT&T in 2002, and I'm still on AT&T.

As far as Sprint goes, I have a work line that was a Nextel BlackBerry 8510 / 7100i (brick).
Attempt to 'upgrade' it to Sprint was like pulling teeth.
Treo 800W has horrible battery life.
Voice quality on Sprint isn't quite as good as it was on iDEN/Nextel.

That would depend on the phone model. CDMA as a whole is much better than iDen (and GSM) for voice but there are some CDMA phones that have poor speakers, etc. So it's more likely the phone than the network.

I've had many phones on Sprint over the years (and variety on family plan) and each phone sounds different. Some great, some not so much.

This is using Bluetooth (same Motorola HS700).
The audio on the BB 7100i is a bit on the tinny side, but VERY consistent on quality - no garbles, dropouts, etc.
On the Treo 800w, the sound appears to be a little on the 'robotic' side, with a bit of distortion (garble/muffle).

As far as speakerphone goes, I'd agree. Nextel devices are meant to be loud. Treo 800w on speaker sounds like the audio itself is over amplified.

As far as GSM goes...I've used GSM, and its pretty good, however has had garble (handoffs). AMR-Full rate on GSM or UMTS sounds better than what I got off of the Treo 800w and off of iDEN.

Look where I live, area code 16371, there is not a "metro area" for at least an hour an a half. I am in the middle of the Allegheny National Forest!

My coverage is excellent...
