[help] Connection constantly disconnecting

All the sudden my AT&T DSL connection has been constantly disconnecting. The connection last between 5min to an hour before it drops. I can power cycle my modem and router to reconnect, but the connection doesn't last. I have a Linksys WRT54G2 Router and a Speedstream 4100B modem. I don't understand why the connection would disconnect all the sudden, but its been a real hassle.

I have the EXACT same prob, first ATT outsource tech said that I had a problem in the line, I waited 2 days they sent no one, I called again this a.m and am now being told by a mainland customer tech that certain Motorola modems (2210-02) are being replaced because they are faulty, I have had this modem 1 yr never any issues. they are basing the replacement on the SERIAL number not the MODEL. I think it's BS, for what its worth this modem was warm to the touch from day 1 I was told by "them" that its normal.they requested that when I receive the new modem I send this one back, I said NO I paid for it. they charged me 49.99 for this modem, even though they sent me a gift card for $50
months later I still paid for it.
all this BS for a mere 1 mg service is starting to seem hardly worth it.
we NEED more options besides Charter or ATT !!!!!

All right the problem went away for a while. But then I lost power and its constantly disconnecting again. When I lose the connection and try to reconnect from the router (the modem is in bridged mode) I get this message, "cannot obtain ip address from pppoe". Then I have to power cycle again to get the connection back. I wish I knew the source of the problem. Why can't things just work for once. Any ideas?
