Re: 2009 Chicago White Sox Thread

I agree with all your points.

So yeah - team speed is still a problem and they won yesterday like they often win - with the home run.

The good news is that:

-- It was a three-run shot, not a solo.
-- Fields bunted himself on, and Getz hit to RF - great execution by both guys.
-- Dotel looked un-hittable out there, and Jenks was his usual self.

Agreed there was plenty of good on that field. Clayton richard looked impressive too. I'm setting up to watch the game in a few minutes. I'm picking Quentin to come through tonite.

Sigh* well that did not look good.....nice to see Paulie kill the only chance we had during this game.

I take that back, pitching was alright. But when do the bats come out?

This is still a thumping mule train team. Live and die with the long one and they won't manufacture many runs. The key to hanging around will be the 4 and 5 starters whoever they may end up being.

I don't expect to see the same Quentin and Ramirez of last year either but last year they both had a magical year. I'm hoping for Getz to be a Tony Grafinnino type at worst and Craig Counsell at best. Father time may start catching up with A.J., catching takes its toll. I expect Dye, Thome and PK to have similar years as last, which wasn't that great. Fields looks ok in the field which will be a plus but he is a thumper at heart and will have a lot of K's. CF has to be given to Anderson because at least he can field. I expect Beckham to be brought up in June if CF turns to a disaster area with Ramirez going to center and Beckham playing short.

The pen success will depend on Linebrink. If he is not able to be set up, then it forces Dotel to move up which is not the consistency needed there. And of course saving the pen, with good outings by the starters particularly the 4 and 5's.

I get pissed at that penny pincher so much but damn I love baseball and my Sox. It's great to have them back.

Streaky - like 07 and 08. Gotta figure out a way to break through. Pitching has been fantastic.

That wasn't fun to watch, from a scoring perspective. They really need to figure out whom they are going to stick with in center. D-Wise is chafing me.

The pitching is very impressive. But overall, theres alot of money dedicated to the middle of the order, they need to produce or the White Sox need to lower their ticket prices. If I wanted to watch minor league ball I'd go to Kennedy Park!

have fun at Kennedy Park.

the game sure wasn't a pleasure to listen to this afternoon. I hate to say this, but I think this month is going to be pretty bad for the team. just seems like Dye is the only one hitting, with Fields coming in a close second.

lets hope for the best!

Kennedy Park on 113th and Western? That would be Little League!

Let's not jump too much too soon. Gotta keep our nerves. Paulie is the one I'm worried about. Thome has already won a game for us, Fields and Dye are hitting. Paulie needs to pick it up, as do Quintin and Rameriz. But there are 159 games to go - very early days.

Yeah...thats the Kennedy alright.

After tonites loss, I would love to see Ozzie get creative.Throw Lillibridge in center or even Anderson. This daily batting order switch can't be good for the players. And by the way...thanks Ozzie for throwing in the towel in the sixth inning. The towel being McDougal/Carrasco. Nothing like letting Carrasco give up 7 to seal a game.

I think so far the most consistent has been Fields.Tomorrow it's Colon....I hope he does better than Contreras

My brother in law coaches there.

The bats are coming around - and the starters ERA is around 2.3. I think they gonna do fine.

Good game today - the bats overcame a shaky start by Floyd.

One bad note - Wise get s hurt just as he begins to hit. Now Owens gets another chance.

separated shoulder for Wise. not good. I'm hoping this will give BA a chance at starting.. I really hope, I don't want to see Owens in a Sox uniform.

ugly win, but with the weather as it had been today, can't blame the crappy pitching. I'm suprised the offense came out bashing the ball.

4-3, guess it isn't too bad for the first week of the season.

If your brother in law coaches there...odds are I've met him.
The Sox had a bad day today, but hopefully its a fluke. the Past 3 have been really good, bats are coming around (except for today). To bad for Wise....I hope gets well. I think he needs more time in minor league....but I hope he gets well. I like the batting order shake up. This whole Getz/Lilli mix should be resoved. I was hoping one would move to center. We'll see....

hey Jsinaiko...you have any use for a server rack or two?

Wise is 31 - he's as good as he's gonna get. I'd love to see something out of Anderson, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

They sure got their butts kicked today.

Nice game tonite....although Jenks made me chew a finger off. I see the Sox picked Pods back up. Theres also a rumer( not verified) that Ramirez may go into center.

This team is far from having its consistent starting line-up
