It has really been a slow year for gadgets. There just has not been a lot of must have gadgets this year. -- And so it goes in life.... one minute everything is coming up roses the next you are being torn apart amongst the thorns. |

| reply to inGearX This year's best purchases so far:
1. Shure SCL4s (on clearance). Really fantastic earphones. I love listening to them.
2. Cowon S9. Been waiting for months in hopes that a 32GB version would be released, but they keep putting it off. I finally caved and bought it in 16GB since I have a bunch of airplane time coming up and thought it would be fun to have a new toy to keep me occupied. The AMOLED screen has to be seen to be believed (online pics do it NO justice) and there are some really gorgeous UIs that you can install. They made it really easy for people to code their own interfaces and customize everything. It's great to see a manufacturer actually embracing that kind of open source ideology (and of course it supports open source formats like FLAC and OGG as well). -- Join the DSLR Kiva team! |

| reply to inGearX just got a Dell Mini 9. purchased it on the cheap and if i didnt like it i was gonna resell and buy another brand. i LOVE it. it's simply awesome, especially for the $230 i paid. Ubuntu, 512MB, 8GB SSD. slapped XP Pro on there and ordered a 2GB stick of ram for 20 bucks and it's g2g. best purchase ive made in a long time.
i use it at work and can remote into my desktop PC from anywhere on campus. i'm considering buying a cheap headset and use skype for calling my boss/coworkers when i need them from the more remote IDFs. even if i dont, having MSN inside the concrete closets makes things 1000x easier. we have no cell coverage inside the buildings but i'm pushing for a femtocell or 3, but until then, this is definitely the best tool i have at work and it's comfortable enough to use at home on the couch while watching baseball.
this bumps the 4870x2 off my previous list -- Somnambulator - t3h 5133pw41k3r
