Why on earth do we (taxpayers) have to pay for these converter boxes anyway? They are $40. If you can't scrap up $40 with more than 12 months notice, you can't afford the electricity to power a TV.

Taxpayers aren't paying for the coupons. The proceeds from the spectrum auction is paying for it. Get your facts straight, sir!

No shit. I don't care what side you are on in this issue at least get the facts stright before ranting. One thing I take into consideration when I read someone's opinon on the topics is how educated they are on it. They may have some valid points but if they are going to be totally ignorant of the subject matter I tend to dismiss ALL of their points. I mean it's not like it's some secret or obscure fact about where the money came from. About the only other thing about this topic that makes me cringe more is when people think this has to do with HDTV. I mean come on.

Holy crap, cry me a river you big baby. My mistake. As soon as I type this out I'll go hang myself. So I guess you are right. We should all wait another year or 2 while the last lazy people get their free box. I still stand by my comments. If you can't pull $40 together inside a year, you don't need to worry about owning a TV.

yes you are a big baby because you ranted for NOTHING. if you had bother to educate yourself on the matter you would have learned that ZERO of your precious tax $ went for the program and thus you wouldn't be getting all pissy over it.

As far as your opinion on lazy people I didn't comment on that one way or the other. I was 100% against this delay adn I certianly didn't think the lazy should get rewarded for being lazy.

As far as if people deserve the $40 in the first place. YOU could have applied for your boxes you chose not to. see here's is wher you show more ingorance. see the airwaves belong to the people ALL the people. Even the alzy and non-taxpayer. The governemnt TOOK those airwaves and sold some of them. If you read your Constitution the government has a responsibility to PAY COMPENSATION for the taking of people's property. This compensation came in the from of $40 coupons for digital converter boxes. The reason for that is that the property taken affects the people that need access to those airwaves the most. Still there wasn't anything preventing you form filling out the form, getting your 2 boxes then ebaying them and making some green.

You have got to be the dumbest person in TN. Well at least the worst speller in TN.

First of all, I requested one coupon on the first or second day they were available. I got it and I bought a converter box. I needed for my camper trailer, not for my home.

The FCC is funded by tax dollars. Working Americans pay those tax dollars; perhaps you are excluded from that group. When the FCC sells something and realizes profit or revenue from that sale. The money belongs to the taxpayers, on this we agree. So you argue that the FCC should return that money to the people in the form of $40 coupons. You argue this money belongs to all Americans. Well how exactly do people that do not need a box get their money? I am on satellite TV and if it were not for my camper trailer I would not need a converter box. Most people I know are on satellite or cable. So those people do not need the box and therefore do not get a slice of this revenue. The money belongs to everyone not just to those that still have an old styled antenna for TV reception. Maybe you could use your $40 on a dictionary.

listen Eisntien the money for the program came from the FCC auction therefor it's not YOUR tax $$. Not ONE DIME came out of YOUR pocket. You most likely don't earn enough to pay taxes anyways.

By the way you complain about people getting coupons and then admit you got one yourself. And having both a home and a trailer you should be able to afford a converter box yet you take a government handout. Both hypocritical and ironic at the same time. You go you!

I've had enough of your inaccurate assessments. If you cannot realize that every dollar the FCC "made" from the sale. Was in fact money we did not have to provide them with to operate, I can't help you.
