(I know you disagree) I have only had FiOS for a little over 3 months, so I have never had any other build than the current one. It really only impacts SD pictures on HD TV's, and some particular models and settings contribute to varying degrees of performance. I don't watch too much SD programming, and very little content of any that I do watch is actually delivered in HD, but here's to hoping the March 1.62 build corrects this issue for you.
I do have an issue with the number of people queried for this poll's accuracy. I guarantee if Comcast subscribers in the Twin Cities were asked this same question, the results would be significantly higher. That said, the results of this 842 customer panel seem to be in line with other recent surveys about customer satisfaction, so who knows? Maybe it was just luck that the numbers are about the same for this poll?
I agree with you on the SD PQ. One thing that keeps getting left out in this discussion is the fact that Verizon also managed to fix some of the video processing on their boxes with that release. For example, in the past, if I put my SD override to 480p or 'off' the mosquitoing I would get on some SD channels would drive me batty. I kept it at 480i as a result. Since they fixed that processing, I switched mine to 480p (they're right - the mosquitoing is totally gone) and the SD picture became almost as sharp as it was prior to this change.
BTW, the SD STBs still provide a picture that's as sharp as ever - the PQ I get on my two SD TVs (one with the QIP2500, one with the DCT700) is astounding.
As for this 'fix', it should correct things, because it'll allow you to adjust the same settings that Verizon messed with in the first place. And from what I understand, you'll even be able to shut them off, taking you right back to where they were before this change took place.
I suffered through the extremely poor picture quality for months until I read the forums here.
