[POLL] E-Mail Clients - 2009 Member Choice Poll

Wikipedia's definition of E-mail Client - An e-mail client, also called a mail user agent (MUA), is a computer program that is used to read and send e-mail.

The term e-mail client is also used to refer to any agent acting as a client toward an e-mail server, independently of it being a real MUA, a relaying server, or a human typing directly on a telnet terminal. In addition, a web application providing the relevant functionality is sometimes considered an e-mail client. MAPI is a more sophisticated protocol used by Microsoft Exchange to communicate with email clients.

Protocols currently in use for transmitting mail between client applications and servers are POP3 and IMAP4 for incoming mail and SMTP for outgoing mail. Transmission over HTTP is also used for certain webmail applications.

All major clients listed from Wikipedia's entry on email clients as of 2/20/2009.

Great poll!

I routinely use Outlook 2007, and before that 2003. However, I do tinker from time to time with Thunderbird and Windows Mail. But, generally speaking, Outlook 2007 is my daily mail manager with IMAP for my personal domain accounts.

Great poll Straphanger See Profile, thanks!

I'm currently using Outlook Express. I have in the past used Eudora, Pegasus and Thunderbird, but found Outlook Express to be the one I like best.

I use Outlook 2007 (2003 before 2007). I've used Outlook Express mostly in the past but also have used Thunderbird.

After using Outlook 2007 in a corporate environment, I've found that it also suits my personal needs and I started becoming more familiar with it. I just miss having an Exchange Server to complete it.

Still using Pegasus after all these years, though supplemented with Popcorn for quick 'n dirty email on the go (despite Pegasus's ability to roam).
