| The headline said rural deployment. Can you imagine how much it would cost to run fiber in comparison? One LTE site could cover many square miles. If CenturyTel is serious, maybe folks in rural areas can finally see some decent speeds available. |

| reply to fifty nine It's rural. Fiber is expensive. LTE (still vaporware by the way) is cable-class capacity-wise, maybe ven DOCSIS 3, and you don't have to lay new wires. For rural areas where there might be only a few, or a few dozen, houses per square mile, wireless makes sense.
I believe Verizon is thinking of doing the same thing. |
