Not all sites. At any point if you have multiple internet connected devices in your home it's not so much about being able to download at 20 Mbps. It's about not having to do it at 1 Mbps because you have 5-6 devices all going at the same time.

That is true if they didn't then someone with a big pipe can bring the site down to a crawl for everyone else trying to leech from it.

Yes they have limitation too and their bandwidth are not cheap for the owner of the website

to all those with anything faster then 10mbps, your connection aren't much more useful only for brags rights

faster connection, bigger pipe not a problem.
bandwidth? is a problem, limited

That's true but sites that are on CDNs like Akamai will be able to give you the full throughput because they are peered close to your ISP.

I ran some tests and was able to reach the max speed of my home line (30 Mbps) downloading a large file cached with Akamai.
