[Trojan] Win32/Kryptic.GS.trojan

Hi there. I need help please. I went through and followed the pre request steps. I have used ESET which initially caught this virus. Eset said it deleted the files but one it found is still in C: windows/recycler and cannot be deleted. downloaded Norton which found nothing but will not update, Spybot will not even open anymore, and adaware will not update. Eset's online scan was blocked by MS, used Trend online and found something and cleaned it. Restored MS Host's file.

So I still get redirected when clicking on links in google, and certain sites will not allow me in saying I have a trojan. Thanks for any help.

Below is my HJ this file:

Re: [Trojan] Win32/Kryptic.GS.trojan

Hi likwidkool

I suggest printing out each set of instructions and reading the entire post before proceeding. It will make following them easier. Please follow the directions in the order listed, this is very important.

quote:
So I still get redirected when clicking on links in google
That's becasue your DNS settings have been hijacked by an infection.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts

When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwords that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

You appear to be running ESET AntiVirus, and Norton AntiVirus. It is not recommended to run more than one antivirus program resident, as they can conflict with each other, and you actually end up with less protection, not more. You need to decide which you want to keep, and completely uninstall the other.

Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
-Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
-Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
-Click the "Delete Cookies" button
-Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
-When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
Go to Tools > Options.
Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Private Data).
Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
-Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
-Let it scan your system for files to remove.
-Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
-Press OK to remove them.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from

http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe or
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
- If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
- Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
- The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
- When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
- The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy & Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Now you need to run HijackThis and click "Do a system scan only." Place a check next to the following entries (if they are still there):

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Popup-Blocker Class - {52706EF7-D7A2-49AD-A615-E903858CF284} - C:\Program Files\NetZero\qsacc\X1IEBHO.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: ZeroBar - {F0F8ECBE-D460-4B34-B007-56A92E8F84A7} - C:\Program Files\NetZero\Toolbar.dll (file missing)
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZJfox000(2)
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.39,85.255.112.40
O17 - HKLM\System\CS3\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.39,85.255.112.40
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.39,85.255.112.40

It appears from the file missing messages, that you may have uninstalled your NetZero software. If you have, also select the following entries (this will also clear the NetZero homepage setting):
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = »my.netzero.net/s/search?r=minisearch
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = »my.netzero.net/s/search?r=minisearch
O8 - Extra context menu item: Display All Images with Full Quality - "res://C:\Program Files\NetZero\qsacc\appres.dll/228"
O8 - Extra context menu item: Display Image with Full Quality - "res://C:\Program Files\NetZero\qsacc\appres.dll/227"

Now close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" to have HijackThis fix the entries you checked.

Go to Start > Run, type in CMD and hit the Enter key
In the CMD window that opens, Copy/Paste: ipconfig /flushdns
If you type this in, note the space between the g /f
It needs to be there.

If you are behind a router, did you ever change the default administrator password? If you did, you will be fine. If not, its possible that the infection may have reset the DNS settings in your router, so you should check the settings to be sure they are still set to your ISP (or whatever you had it set to), and change the administrator password.

Download ComboFix© by sUBs from one of these locations:

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Familiarize yourself with ComboFix before running it:

- Disable your AntiVirus and any AntiSpyware programs you may be running (usually via a right click on the System Tray icon) to prevent them from interfering.

- Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

- As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

- Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, it will save a log.
Please include the contents of the log at C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Please post a new HijackThis log, the log from MBAM, the log from ComboFix (combofix.txt), and note any errors encountered.
