| [net] Extremely slow uploads past 2 days
I currently have the 20/5 FIOS plan and all has worked quite well up to today. For some reason, today and yesterday my upload which normally shows around 4500k is more like 75-300k - which is bringing my work down to a crawl.
I have unplugged/re-plugged in the router. I have shutdown other computers and tried multiple computers. All to no avail.
I called VZ - and they had no ideas other than to factory reset the router. Which I did. It did speed it up to 2000k for a few hours - but then today its back down to the 75-300k range.
Any ideas ?!  -- {Send Secure Notes Free and Easily} :: whisperBot.com |

| reply to QuaffAPint Strange. I've also been experiencing an abrupt drop in my upload speeds. I usually get over-bandwidth on upload speed tests, averaging around 5.6 MB. However, for the past couple of days or so, my upload speeds have only been hovering around 3.9 MB.
I'm going to try resetting the ONT. If that doesn't work I'll be stumped as well. |

| reply to QuaffAPint Well - Turned out the tech replaced my ONT as a best guess solution and low and behold its now working and my uploads are back to normal.
Munson15, you might wanna try just giving them a call and have them check the network on their side. Of course, first they'll have you go through router resets and such. You could always plug the fios line right into your computer, to bypass the router and see if the upload speeds increase. If they do, you know its something with the router. -- {Send Secure Notes Free and Easily} :: whisperBot.com |

| reply to QuaffAPint I had the same problem with the 20/5 Fios plan. My internet was fine until the last week of February. Now it is slow to access even email. The connection hiccups once every 30 seconds or so.
»www2.verizon.net/micro/speedtest/java/ which the fios tech refered me to, says my download speed is 0.5Mbps.
They sent me a new router (after they refused to send me a technician, because they thought it was a router problem), which fixed nothing. |

Yea - I would try calling them (call during the day - I called at night the first time and got a guy who knew nothing). It takes awhile, because they have to go through all the steps, but then you'll get them to have the network engineers look at it, and if they can't find anything, they'll dispatch someone.
It was easy to remove the router out of the picture, because u can plug the fios line right into your computer. Also, do you have multiple computers to test with to make sure its not a computer problem? |

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the advice, but thankfully the problem seems to have sorted itself out. My upload speeds are back up to 5.6 MB at speakeasy.net & about 5.5 MB at speedtest.net respectively.
Don't you just love it when, without having to lift a finger, problems that suddenly appear out of the blue for no good or logical reason mysteriously disappear back into the enigmatic abyss from whence they came? |

Glad to hear it - I keep hoping my now fuzzy TV picture will magically become clear again - so far the magic ain't comin... |

| reply to QuaffAPint My internet has been very slow and sometimes unresponsive in from the past week now. I have the 5/2 at the moment and it's never been this slow before. I called verizon and all they could do is reset my ONT which did nothing.
I don't have a clue on what to do next. |

Try plugging the fios line straight into your computer (bypassing the router) and see if that fixes the problem. If it does - its probably the router and you can try a factory reset. Do you also have a couple computers to test, just to rule out that it's the computer? |
