Re: threaten to cancel I tried explaining to DTV twice before cancelling and they said there wasn't anything they could do about lowering my cost (unless I wanted to give up a reciever or two). I told them I was tired of paying $35/month before I turned on the TV (3x$5 for rec, $10 for HD, $5 for Prem HD, $5 DVR). Sorry we can't do anything. I cancelled and within 24 hours they called saying they would credit my account $200 for the remainder of my contract (10 months) if I turned the service back on. Told them no, and they called again with 48 hours trying to sweeten the deal with a $23/month credit for a year. I was under a programming commitment and told them I'll pay the $100 cancel fee because I'll save that much in switching to full service HD cable in two months that doesn't drop off whenever there is fog or severe weather. Oh and I got two DVRs and free service for the other two TVs w/o a monthly charge for a box that I had to pay DirecTV in advance for. |
