id was ALWAYS a bunch of arrogant @sses in the South, no matter how nicely they tried to sell themselves - id and Carmack are one of the biggest hacks of the gaming business, I think. He might be a good coder but his games SUCKED, big time - I never seen anything more overhyped and then disappoiting, outdated game than Doom 3 at its release... unbalanced game engine (ooohhhh, lighs and shadows - boohoo), nonexistent, 90s-style scripted AI, stupid little dungeon-like maps due to its enormously tasking crappy (low-poly w/ high-rez textures and only nice lights) engine...

Doom 3 tanked in reviews but unfortunately their disgusting marketing still sold a lot of this crap - however people took notice how shitty their game was and the biggest problem was that
devs took notice too: they saw the engine sucked and went for another one.The problem is that their games were rather tech demos for their
engines - they don't fuckin' know how to make games anymore, it's quite obvious but now their
engines suck too.
Literally EVERY new game uses Unreal Engine v3, id was COMPLETELY OWNED by Epic, BIG TIME.Sour grapes: Carmack startedtalking about "mobile games" which was meant to be a stupid, lame attempt to sell his wife's completely useless company (it's a money pit so far with no return in sight whatsoever, just like Carmack's failed space rocket business.)
Now this Flash-based rehashing of the old Quake 3 is something that's interesting - but it's still just a Q3, no matter how cool the execution is...
I'm sure id Software and John Carmack's accomplishments pale in comparison to your own. You could probably teach them a thing or two about creating a successful game series, maybe creating a "kamm engine," since you've won accolades and acclaim for your successful ventures in the industry.
