Contract terms ending on Feb 28 ,2010 11.50
Why would they offer me a rate of 11.50 when others are getting 10.49?
You can choose the type of electricity you purchase and the price structure. Fixed Price Options ConEdison Solutions' fixed price for the supply portion of your electricity bill is guaranteed for the term of your agreement. Selecting a fixed price eliminates the risk of price volatility and may allow you to better plan your expenses.
With Direct Energy it is 331.00kwh x 0.129900
Should I switch...it seems like the 11.5 is cheaper then the rate I am paying with Direct Energy? I have trouble reading these darn things.
Just got off the phone with Levco and they offered me 10.49..if I heard correctly. They are sending me the form so I can switch.
More news. I just checked out Public Power & Utility Inc. here:
Top of the page...they are offering 10.48
Price: Customer will receive electricity from Public Power & Utility, Inc at a floating generation rate. PP&U customers agree and understand that any potential savings will fluctuate with month-to-month market conditions. PP&U customers will maintain a not to exceed price of at least 5% below current CL&P or UI standard generation service rates. See home page for current rates. |

| I think Co-Ed is offering .1049 for CL&P customers and .1150 for UI customers, based on what has been discovered in this thread.
If Levco / Dominion is matching the .1049 rate, go for it! -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

If Levco / Dominion is matching the .1049 rate, go for it! I have CL&P and I am just getting around to going to the on-line form. Con-Ed is offering 11.5, my current rate is $0.122170. So, there is still a small savings.
Question....Do the Con-Ed charges appear on the same bill as the CL&P charges? |

| If Con-Ed is offering $.115 it would be better to call Levco and see if they will match $.1049. The Con-Ed charges appear on my CL&P bill with the CL&P charges.
If Con-Ed were offering only $.1150 then I'd go for another provider. If Levco won't match $.1049, try »www.ppandu.com/esg/ they claim to provide at $.1048. I am less familiar with them, but another poster in this thread seems to report favorably about them (see post by Sky King).
The $.1049 rate has had a significant impact on my electric bill. I don't think $.1150 would make much of a change. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

| As long as Public Power's rates stay lower then the other suppliers it is still a good deal. They have a historical rates chart at their site. Granted it is for a short period but that is the good thing about not having a contract, a person can change providers. A quote from their website below:
"Price: Customer will receive electricity from Public Power & Utility, Inc at a floating generation rate. PP&U customers agree and understand that any potential savings will fluctuate with month-to-month market conditions. PP&U customers will maintain a not to exceed price of at least 5% below current CL&P or UI standard generation service rates. See home page for current rates."
Seems to me it is like a said above, they will consistently be priced below the other suppliers listed above. Believe me, I do not have a "dog" in this fight, I will always try to go with the cheapest and if that if not Public Power...bye bye. I have no personal experience with the company and I am making my decision strictly on price. Good luck on everyone's energy search. I am trying to save in all areas, not just on energy. Cannot wait to retire and move south. I will save over 4,000 a year on property taxes alone. That is big bucks when living on a fixed income. A person can make it on as little as 2,000 per month in some places I have researched. |

| If you are paying 11.32c off peak, and I'm paying 10.49c regardless of time, guess who is paying less for the same amount of electricity.
You may wish to see which provider offers the lowest rate. I don't believe any of the alternative electric providers offer peak and off peak rates. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

Couple things, though: one, I contracted to retain the multi-rate for at least a year (I have until late Spring); and two, I actually come out ahead since I have a PV array that generates most of its power - at least half of all we use - during the day at the higher rate (14.8c, I think?)
But, absent that, you're absolutely correct that switching to another provider would be much better. - GA |

| That's a better rate than Con-Ed is offering. My 2nd bill on Con-Ed recently arrived, it is saving me cash each month. Close to 10% vs using CL&P. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

| reply to pandora I just received my March bill from CL&P with Public Power & Utility as the generation service provider and I was pleasantly surprised to see a real savings in my bill. The rate charged per kilowatt hour went from .122170 for CL&P to .1048 and I saved right around $25. Here's the link to enroll: www.iloweredmyelectricbill.com/ppu
Like my brother who sold me on it said, "It doesn't cost anything so why not switch, it's a no-brainer". |

Then give me a call at 888.60LOWER" Call me? Is this a guy in his parents basement? Which web page did you go to? The Con-Ed web page is secure, and is run by Consolidated Edison of New York. Which is a large utility.
The Con-Ed page is here - »https://www.conedsolutions.com/CES_Enroll/ note you have to change the state to CT (the default is NY) to get instructions for Connecticut customers.
Others have suggested using »www.ppandu.com/esg/ which doesn't seem secure, and is a service I would not provide any personal information to.
Which site are you complaining about the Con-Ed site? Which I suggested. Or the Public Power and Utility site? Which I have not suggested. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |
