1 edit | [OC] Where is the sweet spot?????
Allright, I've been drooling over the e8600 until I realized that I could not carry it over to my next rig. So what do I do now? Still go hog wild on a chip that I won't carry to the next mb? Step down to an e84/500? Or really bite the bullet and get an e7x00? I really liked the 10x multi on the e8600, kept shit simple. does the e7300s 10x help me or hurt? for reference, I am coming from an smithfield 820 running 3150 mhz (have had it running straight 3.5ghz, but didn't know how bad the mosfets were cooking!) so with that in mind, is the diff between the e7x00 and the e8x00 that large? Please help!
EDIT to add: Oh, and I would like to oc to as close to 4ghz as possible.

1 edit | Speaking from experience with the E8500. I've pushed my chip to 4.6ghz on air, so 4.0ghz at near stock voltage isn't out of the question.
I would stick with the E8500.
The E7xxx chips don't have the 1333mhz front side bus nor the 6mb L2 cache, and that makes a noticeable difference. |
