Re: Adipose RX I've never seen it done in these kinds of situations, but what if someone just went to the bank and represented themselves as a legitimate company in order to get a merchant account?
Any reason why a good trickster couldn't pull that off? |

| I'm not up on what would be required. They might be able to do that.
What I notice in this case, is that many people actually did receive diet pills (which they did not order). So there was an actual diet pill business involved. It's possible that the diet pill business was setup purely to conceal the financial fraud. Or it is possible that they did have an actual business in diet pills that did not depend on financial fraud (as distinct from pill fraud). -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; openSuSE 11.0; firefox 3.0.10 |

I'm not saying that they aren't NOW a menace, what I am saying is that you don't know what their motivations were "back in the day", UNLESS you have some information that we/I am not aware of that substantiates your opinion.
EDIT: Even the most noble of intentions can become twisted in to something less honorable over time so it's quite possible that legitimate companies could have 'drunk the kool-aid' and believed the hype and as a result got corrupted by the lure of easy money as long as they didn't ask too many questions... It would support your argument that they were a scam from the beginning if no product was shipped, but in most cases here, people actually received diet pills. |

How can you possibly know what was going on in the minds of the executives of the first diet pill companies that were formed? As nwrickert noted, there's limited possibilities. 1. A company was not achieving it's business plan & as a result of this, the companies executive's all became criminals. 2. A Company was achieving it's goals, but the executives all became criminals anyway. 3. A Company was formed to commit fraud.
If we were discussing a pill company with manufacturing facilities, etc..., it would be more of a complex call, but were not. The fact that "pills" are the product line only means that pills are the product line & nothing should be drawn from that. |
