Where can I buy a Motorola SURFboard SB6120 Cable Modem?

Hello everyone! I have Comcast High-Speed Internet, which is coming out with DOCSIS 3.0. I do not wish to rent a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem from Comcast, so where can I buy a Motorola SURFboard SB6120 cable modem? Thank you!

There's nothing listed on the buy now link from Motorola's site.

I know... I even tried searching for a local retailer within 120 miles of my zip code (15131), but no luck. Does anyone know where one can buy this cable modem?

That said, I doubt Comcast will actually be implementing any service features requiring a DOCSIS 3.0 modem for quite some time, therefore ...

... you'd probably be better off financially buying your own SB51XX rather than leasing a SB62XX.

If I'm wrong about the DOCSIS 3.0 feature implementation, I'd be interested in hearing any details.

There are people that live near me that have DOCSIS 3.0 already, so it should be coming soon...

Its up there as of last week, mutiple stores sell it online, including best buy. So far I haven't found a physical store sellling it due to it still being a new product.

I bought this modem and am currently using it, and its the best modem I've used to date.

Cool. but we don't have that store on the east coast. I figure ordering it online would be less hassle.

There's a thread in our Comcast Forum discussing this:

I just bought a Motorola SB6120 at Fry's Electronics in Campbell, CA today for $120.

I'm not sure where you're located, but anyone on the west coast that has a Fry's nearby, they had them.
They're not even on Fry's web site (yet) so I assume they just recently got them.

I just bought the SB6120 from Best Buy online (the store did not carry it) and it works great with my DOCSIS 1.0 service.

Re: Where can I buy a Motorola SURFboard SB6120 Cable Modem?

Just for ref, Comcast's network is DOCSIS 1.1, 2.0 & 3.0, not 1.0 anywhere.

Denver Navy

@comcast.net

Replaced my old sb5100 with a sb6120 last week.
Got it at Best Buy online (took 18 days to arrive)

Have Comcast: Service is listed as 6 meg down / 2 meg up.

Old Results: (w/5100): 3-4 meg down / .346 meg up -- consistently for two years.

New Results: (w/6120): 20-21 meg down / 3-5 meg up. Middle of the nights sometimes up to 30 meg down. Yahooooo !!!!!

I had to call Comcast toll free service number to get them to enable docsys 3.0 The service tech said this was the first 6120 she had set up here in the Denver area. For grins, she opened up all the ports and I did a speed test: 127 meg down and 38 meg up...Hot damn...

But she then dropped my service back down to 6 down / 2 up. I always stay above 20 meg down and 3 meg up.

GO GET ONE OF THESE, THEN CALL COMCAST FOR SETUP...

If you buy from Frys, you can use MIR $20.00 from Motorola for purchasing SB6120 at Frys only!
