| I use InGrid with CallVantage. InGrid actually uses the broadband internet connection as its primary means of communication, and the telephone line as a backup. InGrid can be used without a phone line if you don't have one or are unable to connect it to one. I have both AT&T U-verse internet and Time Warner Road Runner internet. I have the broadband portion of my InGrid system plugged into U-verse, and the phone portion plugged into my CallVantage. My CallVantage is using the Road Runner internet. That way if one of them goes out InGrid can use the other as a backup. One nice thing about InGrid is that they have no contract (most alarm companies have a 2 or 3 year contract), although you have to pay for the equipment and install it yourself. Another nice thing is that their support is all based in the USA, and they're all extremely friendly and helpful.

| reply to watts3000 watts3000, please accept my apology if you know this already. You ARE aware that ATT CallVantage is being shut down?
Hence, if buying any new hardware or services, also would make sure it could work directly on the net (as scots post related to) and/or will work with a different Voip company. |
