Why not to use an AT&T e-mail account - EVER!

Simple rule: NEVER use an ISP provided e-mail account. Why? They don't provide these as a "service", they actually refer to them internally as a "sticky feature", or in other words, a feature that will keep you "stuck" to them because changing e-mail addresses is a pain in the but!

If you use your OWN account on Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo (not an AT&T account), or of course the best of all a GMail account, you'll never be "stuck". If a better provider comes along, you can switch without service interruption and always get the best deal.

If you're using and AT&T account now, create a new free account somewhere and forward your AT&T account to it. Eventually, all your contacts will notice your new return address and when a better deal comes along... switch!

I just let my friends know when I switch. No big deal.

But since my only choices are ATT DSL or Comcast I am not switching. So yes I use my ATT e-mail.

Yeah. Sure, I can see where for some folks this might cause them to hesitate changing ISPs...but why i can not fathom!

Big deal...if I change my email account, I'll simply group email all the folks who are important to me and they'll save the new address...how freakin' hard is that to do?

In fact, it will give me an opportunity to neglect those folks on the peripheral that I really don't mind not hearing from anyways!

However, I have been with SNET/SBC-Yahoo?AT&T-Yahoo for over 7 years now...so it is not a real hot-button issue here.
