Re: BGP at branch office

We need to setup BGP network at our branch office so i wanted some of your opinions. Here is what I’m looking to setup.

2 Bandwidth providers handing off a FastE 10/100 with 4mb commit on both (multi-home).
Routing a /27
Usage is VPN ( 5 tunnels)and HTTP inbound and out.
I would say a constant 30mb usage 24/7
Not looking to go beyond 2 ISP and or 10/100

How about a one 2821 Sec/K9 with 256 RAM for the route tables. OR
one 2821 with 256 RAM for the BGP and another 821 Sec/K9 with 256 RAM for VPN.

A 2821 should be fine. You should max out the memory on the 2821.

Make sure you get the AIM-VPN/SSL-2, the onboard crypto is pretty embarrassing. Go for any ECC DDR266/333/400 DDR 512MB dimm for the upgrade. Kingston makes those for the ISR line, they're like $40. Cisco sells the same thing from Micron for $2500.
