Landline goes first

I'd sooner ditch my landline than my fast Internet service. My wife and I often browse the Internet at the same time (on our respective laptops). If we went to dial-up, we might save on monthly ISP costs, but we would need to install at least one more phone line. Plus, we would have to put up with disconnections, slow speeds, and all the other headaches that we left behind when we went broadband. In fact, would dial-up even work over Time Warner Cable's Digital Phone line? If not, we'd probably have to go back to Verizon for phone service and thus pay more for our phone line.
