Re: I miss wildcat I use to run my BBS with Wildcat! v4.20ML10. I miss those days.
Why not resurrect the ol' BBS? Most VoIP lines can handle a 56k connection (I've tested this on a v92 w/v44 modem). I did have to switch to Synchronet since Wildcat's upgrade is ridiculously expensive.
Plus, the speed increase with v.44 made one hell of a difference, even at 33.6kbps. It was definitely worth it.
I'm using a pair of ActionTec EX560LKU USB Modems on my BBS. Very friendly with Linux and runs decent. If lines get even cheaper, I might invest in a v.44 modem pool.
I just hope we can eventually get $5-10 incoming lines.. -- Bresnan 15M/1M|Mine[P4HT 3.2GHz,2GB RAM,2x1TB HDDs,WinXP]|Wife's[P4 2.4GHz,1GB RAM,60GB HDD,WinXP]|Router[2xP3@1GHz,640MB RAM,18GB HDD,Allied Telesyn AT-2560FX,Kingston KNE100TX,2xDigital DE504,Compaq NC3131,iPro/1000DP,Blitz BWI715,Gentoo] |
