Coax inputs on modern HDTVs run ATSC HD. A good number of them will also tune clear QAM from cable systems to get the broadcast networks in HD without a box.

| Depends on the system I guess. Most of them were encrypted here when I tried (Comcast/Chicago area). Comcast was requiring about $14-15/month ($9 for HDTV box and $5-6 for additional outlet).
Cable can be great if you can use a Cable card though, as you don't need the box. |
