when will they drop the caps?

Since Docsis 3.0 is supposed to alleviate congestion problems there is no need for caps right since that was the whole reason for the caps ( supposedly )?

I think caps are less about congestion problems and more about protecting their TV model.

Again, higher speeds does not always equate to people downloading more....

Wrong!
There still will be caps, but comcast doesn't feel the need to mention in every press release, and apparently Karl forgot or is tired of see CAPS! in every other post (every post for some people )
Get over it, CAPS! are part of the ToS for the forseeable future.

EXACTLY!!
From 3mbps to 16mbps - my usage has not increased.
Even if I decide to get D3 - when ever it does get lit up here - I seriously doubt I will use that much more.. if any at all.
Maybe on the upload side, doing backups.

Faster is faster.
Faster doesn't mean more, it means less time for current tasks(if the source can push it).

What caps?

Here we go again. The fact that you are unable to use to its potential what you pay for does not mean that those that could use what they pay for are wrong in their desire to utilize the product they have legally purchased.

except in DOCSIS 3 case its not faster = more, its more channels = more... the cap claim was because they said the channel was congested... now you have at least 2 channels for downstream (and possibly up to 8 depending on chipsets, etc) so the DOCSIS 3 != higher caps kinda goes out the window because we ARE allowing more bandwidth for usage

Why should we get over it ? It is wrong not to be clearly disclosed and the slanting of advertisement needs to be corrected.

yes I know that. Everyone knows that. Comcast et al seem to think everyone is stupid. Their problem once you state a reason for caps and that reason no longer exists you have an issue.

On top of that since you have 4 or 8 channels assigned to you (and hopefully they mix the channels assigned to the users on a Node) the modem will prefer the non-congested channels that it is assigned so that congestion is less of an issue and thus the need to cap is reduced.

Also, the speeds tiers are ridiculous. D3 can do 160 (4 Channel) or 320 (8 Channel) yet they are not even offering speeds like Cablevision's (Optonline) BOOST DOCSIS2 30Mbs (really 38Mbs uncapped) let alone what D3 can actually deliver.

The Ads for services do not mention you cannot have servers on a comcast connection, they also do not mention you cannot resell your connection. This does not mean it is false advertisement. No where in these Ads does it mention unlimited downloads or bandwidth consumption. If they did then yes you would be correct. It is is the ToS and thats the only place it NEEDS to be.

Really ? It does not need to be mentioned as unlimited, but it does need to mention that a line that could deliver about 2 TB / mo normally can be used only for 250 GB artificially. It does mention the speed limits (6,8, or whatever Mb/s) so why not the transfer caps ?

After all, if the fancy restrictions do not need to be specified in the advertisement, then you would feel just fine if you could use your purchased connection only Tuesdays between 10-11 PM when the Moon is in half phase, right ? as long as it is in the TOS.

Yes, here we go again!
You abused Comcast, they booted you. Get over it!
I am quite able to, just I prefer to use it as I do - even though that cuts into you like a knife.

99.9% of Comcast customers have no issue with any sort of cap - whether it was the Inviso-Cap or the now stated 250GB cap(even though it isn't set in stone).

*YOU* did what you did! They cut you off.
Doesn't matter what/where/how/why - game over!
You need to let it go.

Porn and video content from other providers is what CC fears and what the caps are all about.
