Yet, larger markets...

Yet, much larger markets like Houston (4th largest city in the nation) still have the weak 8Mbit/sec tier as the fastest option, and PowerBoost still doesn't work on the upload.

We should count our blessings that it actually works as it is and hope that the next hurricane does not knock it out for months again. When FiOS will be available, then it will light a fire under them to make some improvements in speeds.

Yep, monopolies do leave the consumer wanting...but paying more.

are you sure the repairs are even done yet?
my SNR oddly enough keeps going from 43 to 58 (although it keeps working)

My 3 locations work fine (knocks on wood). I use them much less to not get in trouble again, but as far as reliability has been good ever since TW fixed the lines years ago. Was down for 3 months, though, so I am not looking fw to the next hurricane season.

Truth huh?

Minneapolis has HORRIBLE competition.. Qwest anyone? They still advertise and sell 256Kbps speeds here with a good amount of people still on 1.5, which just happened about 4 years ago. 4 years ago, 640Kbps was their bread and butter top end speed! Now you have SOME ares that can get 5 and 7MB speeds..

.. yet, Comcast, the "Monopoly" launched DOCSIS 3.0 in the Twin Cities.

Bucket full of holes yet?

The upgrade began a few years ago when they announced they'd be spending a butt load of money int he bay area to upgrade the last mile delivery system in the bay area..

I think the press release is a pretty good indication that the installations will begin soon.

The Bay Area MARKET is the 4th largest MARKET in the US.

the Houston MARKET is #11.

City size doesn't matter because the metro area is much smaller. Please get your facts straight.

Oh, goodness. Because it is in WIKIPEDIA, it *must* be true! Sorry Sinbad...
BTW, if you want to drop Wikipedia data, then this page shows the greater Houston area as 6th, and Bay area as 12th. So, get *your* "facts" straight, dork.
