They'll probably do the same thing they're doing in Chicago. You'll be given a free self-install kit to swap your modem for a DOCSIS 3.0 model so you get an upgrade to 22/5 Ultra. Be aware that this conversion started several weeks after the initial DOCSIS 3.0 availability in the Chicago market.
How does that work, Ultra is $10/month more than Blast. Blast has been available to most of the SF bay area for a year so the upgrade from 8/1 to 16/2 happened then.

My address shows the following options available:
Performance $42.95
Blast $52.95
Ultra $62.95
Extreme $139.95

If Comcast upgrades Blast customers to Ultra at no charge why would anyone choose to pay the Ultra price? If they do offer me a free upgrade to Ultra I’ll gladly take it but if not I’m probably going to drop down to Performance since It’s not worth $10 for 4M of download.
I'm wondering the exact same thing. I'm actually interested in upgrading to the Ultra tier (I just verified via phone that I'm on the Blast! / 16mb/2mb plan), but Comcast's own verification page conflicts with what the press release states.

Press release says:

Beginning today, Comcast's new services will be available to residential homes (and beginning March 10 to all businesses) in the San Jose-Silicon Valley area (Alviso, Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Mount Hamilton, Mountain View, Saratoga, San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale) ...
Yet, visiting verification page and putting in 94043 or 94040 tells us that DOCSIS 3.0 isn't available yet.

Also, for those curious about the DOCSIS 2.0 -> 3.0 modem upgrade stuff, I've asked this question before, and these are the answers I got.

Bottom line: something still doesn't match up here...

EDIT: I tried going through the www.comcast.com account management page, going to Shop / High Speed Internet, selecting the Ultra tier, yadda yadda. Early on in the process, it asks you if you're subscribed to cable TV service, which I'm not (I don't watch TV). Later, you're then given a series of choices for installation, one of which is the Self-Install Kit -- which costs $29.95 plus $9.95 S/H (uh, I'd expect all of this to be waved given that you're upgrading, e.g. paying more per month). But here's the amusing part: before you can submit your order, you have to answer Yes to 4 questions, one of which is "Are you a Comcast Cable TV subscriber?". If you choose No and try to Submit the order, you're told you require a Professional installation which costs $129.95.

Comcast obviously needs to get their sh** together with regards to account upgrades and environments where people don't subscribe to TV service.
