anon : Thanks for the reply! However I seem to have found the cause today. I tried using an AM radio to listen for any interference that could be causing it and have found one of our TVs causes a lot of it and only at times when the internet cannot sync.

We've had the TV for a couple of years with no problem, so I'm just going to have to work out whats happened to make it do this.

Thanks!

wonko3fc : I believe you are only required to pay BT for the visit if the problem is found to be on your equipment.

So to prove the point. disconnect everything behind the master socket.

dismantle the master socket and inside, you'll find another BT female connection point. This is the demarcation bit!

Stick your filter/ADSL modem into that and off you go. Still faulty? Swap out the Filter.
Still faulty? Swap out the modem.
Still Faulty? Problem on BT section hence free engineering visit.

Of course,t here is the possibility that the problem is on your kit somewhere....

so if you get to a point where all is fine, then start to 're-assemble' the bits dismantled to date one by one. when you find the line faulty again, that last bit was the problem.

anon : Hi,

I've had a problem with my ADSL cutting out intermittently for around 2 months now. I am with BT they do not seem to be able to do anything to help me, other than sending an engineer out which I would have to pay for.

The ADSL cuts out around 4 times a day for between 20 minutes and 5 hours. So far I've tried using different microfilters, a combination of 2 microfilters, using different phone sockets and moving the modem to different rooms in the house but I still get the same problem.

Could anyone give me any help with this please?

Thanks
