Re: Airport Security Identifies Clown As Potential Terrorist

... we have never had a crisis of this size before and the government keeps working on bringing in new forms of security that are more worse than even the spyware.

Now some of this is political but you have to factor that now with things like cyber security and plenty more this style of discussion is growing and this is privacy related in nature and you will still find threads on keeping your PC clean.

Some would rather not talk about this like it's a religion but the reality is we have to discuss new issues of security and privacy that maybe a little outside the realm of what used to be normal but with big changes on the way you can expect more.

Re: Airport Security Identifies Clown As Potential Terrorist

It is clear that security, from the desktop PC to airport safety to credit cards to macro-economics, has become deeply intertwined with politics and personal fears and belief systems. Unfortunate as this may be.

Airport screening has evolved way past the simple 'have you ever left your luggage unattended' to incredibly intrusive, invasive and dehumanizing techniques, as many have discussed here.

Constantly changing international and domestic, group and individual, animosities, attitudes and relationships have played demonstratively significant roles. Not only by stoking fear, but also by providing impetus for the technical development of new security techniques, new threat detection mechanisms, advanced potential target assessment, and large corporate profits. Some companies' and political entities' bottom lines depend on continuing fear and the resulting loss of privacy and security.

These are major issues that affect us all. Us all. We are fortunate that here we are afforded the latitude to discuss and share a variety of such issues, and even their potential peripheral impacts. We cannot fully know how these issues will morph into a wildly uncertain future. And how computer technology, security and privacy may be implemented and targeted by this apparently nightmarish evolution.
