Re: I'm done with Comodo FW

It appears that vulnerability is not exploitable remotely. On a home computer without a local network, is it a relevant problem?

I've been thru several versions in the last several months and the betas.
Some worked well and some didn't.
The latest version,.477, runs the best in my opinion.
I don't understand why you say its bloatware.
CIS is the litest piece of software I have run.
Fast, smooth and basically care free.
The only pop ups I get is if I forget to put it in Install mode when downloading new software.
The two processes running are only using 4,500k and that is for the whole suite.
I should mention I'm using XP SP2.

Now on my laptop which has Vista Basic, well that's another story.
I've tried different versions and uninstalled all of them.

I am not impressed with Comodo either. I am still using Kerio 2.1.5 on my XP machines.

Can anyone tell me what was the last version of Comodo that was stand alone firewall? I think that version did MD5 signature checking as well. Does anyone know by any chance?
Same here!! Simple, light, and basic. Just like a firewall should be!!

You might want to try Sunbelt Firewall. It's the updated version of Kerio: »www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Home-Hom···irewall/

I don't use anything from Comodo so I can't comment on how the FW is now as compared to some time ago. But I don't understand complaints about popups from HIPS. You WANT popups especially when installing something. I also saw several comments about liking old versions of ZA but not the latest. I didn't use ZA for years because it was bloated compared to the original ZA which I had while still in beta and almost noone had even heard of a personal firewall back then. Then it became bloated but the current version I love and it works great on Vista with Avira 9 beta (minus Avira's inferior firewall that has no HIPS yet). It has a reasonably decent classic HIPS. Of course, nothing like ProcessGuard.

As for Online Armor, I hated that. It is extremely simplistic.

Funny you should post this because I just had to do the same thing. Comodo forums have many people with numerous problems from the last couple updates. They have definitely screwed up a decent program.
When was anything Comodo decent ?

Well, I've been using CIS for a while, and have been very happy with it. Very light, gives me firewall and HIPS, and the AV seems to work fine with other AVs while it's improving.

Best thing is it's actually free to use whereas many other products cost money and don't give you as much IMO.

Obviously, mileage varies per these forums. I just have yet to find anything I can recommend as much.

I did NOT say that. Please do not misquote someone.

What I said was that I do not use anything from Comodo.
